Help Make Website Optimizer Better

In the spirit of constant testing and improvement—as we urge you to do—we're planning some user testing of our own this month. If you have a spare hour, it'd be great to get your participation, and you'll get an AdWords credit! All you need to do is log in to your computer at a specific time and give feedback on some early feature concepts we're kicking around. Here are details:

  • The tests last 60 minutes
  • Compensation is a $100 AdWords credit
  • Once you confirm, we'll contact you to arrange the start time

To participate, you need to:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • sign our Usability Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • have a desktop or laptop computer with Windows 2000/XP and Internet Explorer installed (sorry, we can't support Macs quite yet!)
  • have a Broadband Internet connection or stronger (such as DSL, Cable, or T1)
  • have a phone (cell or land line) with a handless option so you can speak on the phone and use your computer simultaneously
If you have time to help, please fill out this online form. The idea is to keep improving our product, so the more of you we get input from, the better it'll be.

Thanks!

Data is Important why?

Data is important why?

I truly believe that storing visitor's data is important and using the stored data in efficient manner is very very important. Not quite sure but the result of storing data is somehow reflecting in Google's recently launched product Ad Planner.Using this advertiser can take benefit of Demographics as well as the gender criteria too.So now i think you can get the idea of how useful the Google Ad Planner gonna be for advertiser and the reason behind it the data only.

The basic use of the data is mug it for analysis purpose and then present it in a way that can give you insight of what is going wrong or what is giving good return.

And you should not forget that we have a free tool called Google Analytics to store the data and analyze it free of cost.

So make a note to store and analyze the data everyday.

Cheers

Blogging A Platform for Advertising in Bollywood

Oops i should say "Blogging A Platform for Web Advertising in Bollywood Too"
Why i think this is because now a days biggest celebrity like Amitabh Bachchan and Amir Khan become avid blogger and they are utilizing this medium like a mature advertisers and truely cashing the benefit of web advertising.

It is true that blog are tool of advertising (no doubts as i know few people who is making money from their blog by letting advertiser advertise on their blog , and the good thing is
advertiser is getting good ROI) and stars are using it well to promote themselves.Blogs provides a good visibility but a celebrity should be clear about what he wants to do with his blog.

I think the advantage a celebrity can have by writing a blog is

  • Post What they think
  • Make it beautiful by uploading pic or their videos
  • Their views about a product or service
  • Interact directly with the audience
  • Put the upcoming trailer of their movie

So celebrities are getting all the benefits of blogging.

You Know Testing is Going Mainstream when

Found this article really interesting on Google Website Optimizer Blog today and cant resist myself to put it on this blog for you guys
to read the actual post goto http://websiteoptimizer.blogspot.com/2008/07/you-know-testing-is-going-mainstream.html

Enjoy....

People start drawing testing cartoons. I was speaking at a conference in Chicago about Website Optimizer and after the talk, one of the people in the audience showed me some cartoons he had doodled during my presentation. I'm quite accustomed to people doodling, IM'ing, and feed reading during my presentations and it's usually unrelated to what I'm talking about. I was quite impressed when Sean D'Souza offered to actually show me his drawings. I thought, wow, this guy has come chutzpah.

To my surprise, the drawings all related to a number of points about testing that I was trying to convey via bullet points in my presentation. Here are some of my favorites, with my reactions:

Takeaway: Online testing is enabling its adopters to outpace competition who keep sending precious traffic to poorly performing pages.

Takeaway: This is how some folks feel when seeing poorly designed landing pages. On the one hand, we feel there's an opportunity to help people dramatically improve their websites. On the other hand, it's sometimes shocking to see how sub-optimal landing pages can be.

Takeaway: People can get really, really zealous once they get into website optimization. Obviously, this idea takes testing a tad too far, but it's not the first time we've heard people take it to heart.

Takeaway: Unless you have tons of traffic, your best opportunity to boost conversion rates with statistical significance is to try some really big changes (think dramatic layout and visual changes plus text changes as opposed to pure text tweaks alone).

Takeaway: Sometimes people get so happy after they've launched their experiment that they obsessively check reports expecting one combination to pull away instantly. The goal is to be patient and understand that you want to find the long-term winner, not this hour's random winner.

Takeaway: This is one of my favorites. Sometimes people try to create as complicated and large tests as they can without realizing that a simple A/B test often gets you 80% of the gains with 20% the complexity and effort.

Thanks to Sean for sending us the pics. We heart them.

Increasing Petrol Price

Wondering why i am writing something about petrol prices in a Blog related to Search Engine Optimization, Marketing and Web Analytics .I was just thinking what could be the effect of petrol prices hike on search marketing etc.So here is what i think...

People are driving less to save money so online advertiser can take advantage of this
According to a recent study by the National Retail Federation, 40% of Americans say they’re driving less due to high gas prices, and only one in ten respondents said they planned to travel for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

So what effect it could drive on indian shoppers who still think the online shopping is not so reliable. The online advertisers in india should take advantage of this situation and give some attracting punchline to customer and i am sure this will increase their sales up to some extent.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to fill up your online campaigns with some high-octane ads or launch a specific new one targeted to the visitor segment who are worried about the petrol price hike in India and looking to save money accordingly.

If you need help in how to strategies the campaign for this just drop a comment :)
